Safest Drug is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2019 with a mission to prevent and alleviate medication-related illness, disability and death in the United States. Rooted in a belief that everyone deserves a safe medication experience and the existing statistics of medication-related morbidity and mortality are too concerning to ignore, our vision is to one day see a society free of medication harms.

We strive to tackle such a huge public health problem by creating programs that take into consideration how medications can lead to negative health outcomes throughout a drug’s full lifecycle in American society – from the time it is researched under clinical trials to the moment it is discarded – because every layer presents an opportunity to create “medication safe” communities.

Our nonprofit is proud to be consumer-focused but we know that the real challenges to lessen medication injuries and deaths cannot be mitigated without collaborative efforts. We’re talking about collaborations that involve an array of community supporters, partners and individuals in government, healthcare, industry and academia.

Safest Drug wants to be a major player in solving the problems of medication injuries and deaths by leading education, research and advocacy projects.
