Community Pharmaceutical Drug Disposal Improvement

Targeting expired and unwanted medications to reduce accidental and intentional overdose exposure while preventing water supply contamination.

Safest Drug is proud to support community-wide efforts to identify needs & support pharmaceutical drug waste implementation and evaluation. Keeping unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medication out of home environments can save lives. Research has even identified potential benefits for cleaner drinking water supplies and aquatic bodies of water, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency noting water treatment plants being generally not equipped to routinely remove medicines.

To act, we aim to work with local and state community stakeholders on pharmaceutical drug disposal improvement projects. To engage our team on pharmaceutical drug disposal efforts in your area, email
